My YES: Year End Sharing
The temple's name is Than Hsiang Temple. Than Hsiang (Tan Xiang) means Sandalwood's Fragrance.
The assembly was to achieve 100 Million Recitation of Om Mani Padme Hung.
The assembly was led by His Eminence Drubwang Rinpoche, and highly regarded Tibetan monks, plus 11 others Rinpoches and Lamas.
Here's how Drubwang Rinpoche looks like (the one on the left):

The assembly was attended by around 280-500 participants daily, and on the last day, the hall was burst with 700 odds participants. Some of them have to wait outside.
Here's a glimpse of the participants:

At one instance, there were monks from all the 3 Major Buddhist Traditions in the same hall, namely Tibetan (vajrayana), Thai (theravada) and Chinese (Mahayana). I stole the opportunity and and snapped few photographs here:

A nice view isn't it?
And on one of the day, the Abbot of Than Hsiang Temple, Venerable Wei Wu, gave a speech to introduce the many projects of Than Hsiang Temple, under its foundation, Than Hsiang Fund.

The major focus of his speech was on the International Buddhist College, initiated and built by Than Hsiang, in Southern Thailand. It has now around 40 students, both monks and laypeople.
If you are interested to find out more of the International Buddhist College, you can see at their mainsite: www.ThanHsiang.org. I would urge you to do so, and if possible, support their projects in cash and kinds.
I graduated with a Diploma in Buddhist Studies under that project.
I can talk more about the Assembly, but, Than Hsiang Temple has also published an article about the assembly at their site. So, you can read more about it at:
100 Million Mani Recitation Dharma Assembly
So, with the assmbly, Rinpoche hope that all sentient beings have less sufferings and be endowed with great joy and happiness.
With my YES, Year End Sharing, I hope that whatever merits accumulated in the assembly, can be shared with all so that they have less sufferings and be endowed with great joy and happiness for 2006!
A Happy Joyful New Year to everyone, every sentient beings!
