Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

After 2 weeks of continuous work, I decided to take a break yesterday...

I took my girlfriend out for lunch, then to movie, shopping, dinner - the whole day out, and with my mind out of work or e-books.

The movie we watched - Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Initially I was wondering what Tim Burton was trying to tell us. Usually, in the movies - there's certain message to be shared.

Well, I didn't quite get it when Willy Wonka was trying hard to say even the word "Father" that someone have to say "Parents" for him... Until again and again he potrayed that difficulty I began to catch that.

Then, the constant flashbacks on his childhood, and how his father stopped him from eating chocolates and candies, it is confirmed that the movie was trying to tell us about fatherly love.

What's more - a small boy like Charlie would give up the riches of the world for being with his family...

I came back later, and looked at my father's picture...

He's no longer with us... :(

I did not tell him how much I love him. I never take the time to really spend time with him. I argued with him. I ignored him. I hardly talked to him. And I regretted all that!

My mum is still with me. I'm not going to repeat that mistake again.

I talk to my mum. I spend time with her. I took her out for breakfast, for lunch and for dinner. I spend more time at home so that she will not feel lonely. And that is why I opted for internet business, so that I can stay at home and accompany her. Otherwise she will be alone and lonely.

For Chinese, filiality is very important. I don't consider myself filial, but I would have to try my best to give mum the best she deserves.

And for the movie, if you are spending too much time on your career, business, studies or whatever that is not related to family - I would recommend you to watch it. It is funny and entertaining, but the message is very touching - family is our one most important thing in life.

"Without a family, we have no roots. Without a root, we cannot stand against the wind."

Cheers,
