         The name sales site, as opposed to a website, serves one function - to sell.

The sales site is normally a single page, with the order link at the end of the page - to keep the prospects on the page and to click the order link. This is to avoid them going off from your sales message and divert to other pages or sites.
 
A sales site sells. It is not just providing information, but to provide enough information in answering possible questions or objections the prospects have.
 
The copy in the sales letter is written in direct 2nd-person conversational manner. If you've noticed, all the pages on this website is written in this manner to make it personal, direct, and interesting. Normal websites is usually written in 1st or 3rd person indirect manner, and is not speaking directly to your prospects.

Customers like to know that you're speaking directly and personally to them.
 
Sales page can make your website personal and high-touch, making people wanting to come back to your site more frequently. That way, you'll have more and more traffics to your site.
